Skip Barber Championship Shootout enters final day
The last day of competition begins today at Road Atlanta for the Skip Barber Championship Scholarship Shootout. With three races under their belts, the last day owill take the competition to its highest level yet.
In the three races for Day 2, no one driver grabbed the top spot twice. Karts to Cars Scholarship winner and 2014 Summer Series champion Luke Gabin took the first win of the day. In Race 2 of Day 2, INDYCAR Academy champion Michai Stephens took the top spot and in Race 3, Jack Mitchell Jr. took the win.
The last day will have two more races before the champion is crowned. In addition to the two intense races left for the group, Dave Despain will also be speaking to the group about media relations as well as sponsorship etiquette.
"We knew coming into this event that it was going to be a well-deserved win for whoever is crowned champion," said Skip Barber Race Series Coordinator Jeff Lail, "and the drivers have really not disappointed. This talented group is putting everything they have on the track and it shows. We can't wait to see who will come out on top."
