Thiim takes Porsche SuperCup pole at COTA

Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup set the grid for its USGP support race at Circuit of The Americas ahead of F1 qualifying. Nicki Thiim bested Kuba Giermaziak on his final to take pole by 0.029sec. Michael Ammermuller, Earl Bamber and Philipp Eng rounded out the top five.

Of the Americans in the field, Sean Johnston led the way in 12th, with Madison Snow 15th and Colin Thompson 18th.

Saturday's Supercup race runs from 4 to 4:30, for 14 laps or 30 minutes. Sunday races run before the USGP.
