F1: Hamilton reportedly splits with management team ahead of contract talks

Although

Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team have agreed to put off contract extension talks until after the end of the season

-– a potential boon to Hamilton, given his current run of momentum – the negotiations involving the British star could have some new players. The UK's Daily Mail reports that Hamilton has split with his personal management team led by manager-to-the-stars Simon Fuller of "American Idol" fame.

Hamilton joined Fuller's XIX Entertainment group after severing his business relationship with his father Anthony following the 2009 season, but the Mail reports that Hamilton recently declined to renew his contract with Fuller's group.

Although Sebastian Vettel prefers to conclude his own contract deals rather than relying on agents, Hamilton is expected to continue to rely on professional management. However, the Mail suggests he is likely to look beyond the F1 paddock and traditional racing media management in favor of Hollywood.

"Hamilton, 29, has a love for Hollywood and especially the music industry," the newspaper notes. "His girlfriend is American pop star Nicole Scherzinger, he is friendly with several rap stars and has talked about starting his own record label."
