F1: Ocon, Fong and Nissany make test debuts
China's Adderly Fong and Israel's Roy Nissany both successfully completed their first Formula 1 tests with Sauber at Valencia this week. Fong covered 99 laps in a 2012 C31 on Wednesday, with Nissany running the same distance on Thursday.
"I am very happy that I had the opportunity to test the Sauber C31," said Fong.
"I have achieved my objective to complete 300 km without making any mistakes and at a good speed. The car was fantastic to drive, it is a brilliant piece of machinery."
Nissany added: "It was an amazing day. It was my first time driving a Formula 1 car, and it felt great. I was quite excited at the beginning, and I think I feel more experienced now."
No lap times were issued by the Sauber team.
Fong, 24, has combined sports car and GP3 programs over the past two seasons, while 19-year-old Nissany has just completed his second year of European Formula 3. His father Chanoch tested Minardi and Jordan's F1 cars in 2004-'05.
Meanwhile France's Esteban Ocon took the wheel of earned his two-day session in Lotus’s 2012 E20 as reward for winning the FIA Formula 3 Championship in his rookie season this year. The 18-year-old has been part of Lotus’s junior program since 2010 and the F1 test formed part of his ongoing development with the team.
