Asian Le Mans Series drops Thailand race from 2014 calendar
organizers of the Asian Le Mans Series announced following this weekend's third round in Shanghai that the race at Buriram, Thailand scheduled for Nov. 23 has been canceled. The move cuts the series down to four races, with the finale set for Sepang, Malaysia on Dec. 7.
"After consultation with teams and stakeholders, organizers of the Asian Le Mans Series have made the decision to remove the Thailand race from the 2014 calendar in order to focus on delivering a successful final race in Sepang as well as being well prepared for 2015 season," the series said in a statement. "The provisional calendar for 2015 will be announced shortly, which will show improvements in scheduling along with a number of strategic changes that will enhance the efficiency and attractiveness of the series, with the clear goal of increasing numbers of the grid.The 3 Hours of Shanghai attracted an eight-car field, with two LMP2 entries, four GTs and two of the CN-class prototypes. OAK Racing has won all three Asian Le Mans Series races to date with its Morgan-Judd P2.
