Leal loses GP2 pole after penalty

Julian Leal has lost his pole position for GP2's reversed-grid race at Sochi after being penalized for a collision in Saturday's opener at the Russian Grand Prix event.

Carlin driver Leal finished eighth on the road in race one, which would have placed him on pole for Sunday morning. But he was under investigation for a tangle with Marco Sorensen during the race.

The officials have subsequently deemed Leal at fault and switched their positions, moving MP Motorsport's Sorensen up to eighth in race one and giving him sprint race pole.

Stephane Richelmi has also been given a post-race penalty. A 20-second time addition for a track limits infringement drops the DAMS driver from 17th to 22nd.

Richelmi's teammate Jolyon Palmer secured the 2014 title by winning the opening race.
