Asian Le Mans: OAK Morgan takes Shanghai pole

Ho-Pin Tung secured pole position with OAK Racing Team Total's #1 Morgan-Judd (LEFT) for the 3 Hours of Shanghai round of the Asian Le Mans Series. His fastest lap of 1:39.860 led the LMP2 teams by a hair, as Eurasia Motorsport's James Winslow was just 0.142sec behind with his ORECA-Nissan. Both P2 cars set the fastest time on their final laps, providing a dramatic ending to the qualifying session.

Craft-Bamboo Racing claimed pole position in the CN category, as Kevin TSE set a fastest lap time of 1:46:545 in the #77 Ligier JS 53 Evo. Due to a battery problem Team Avelon Formula was unable to take part in yesterday's Free Practice 2. However its #21 Wolf GB08 was in good form during qualifying with a fastest lap time of 1:48.156 set by Guglielmo Belotti.

The GT teams turned it up during qualifying with Takeshi Tsuchiya from Team AAI #90 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 recording a 1:46.111 to take pole. Only 0.716sec behind was Team AAI's #92 BMW Z4 drove by Jorg Muller, who clocked a 1:46.827, 0.019 seconds ahead of Team AAI third GT entry, the #91 BMW Z4. Clearwater Racing took the fourth place in the GT category with a quickest lap time of 1:48.638.
