GP3: Stoneman switches to Koiranen

Dean Stoneman will move to the Koiranen GP3 team for the final two 2014 rounds after the news that Marussia-backed Manor will be absent from this weekend's races in Russia.

Marussia's junior team announced on Wednesday that it was withdrawing from the Sochi event for commercial reasons, leaving Stoneman without a drive. The Briton will now rejoin Koiranen, with which he competed in the final round last year.

"Dean proved to us last year that he could adapt to our car and drive it to the top level," said team boss Afa Heikkinen. "This year he proved to everyone that he could win races. So, of course we are delighted to have him with Koiranen GP until the end of the year."

Stoneman replaces Carmen Jorda at the team alongside Santiago Urrutia and Jimmy Eriksson.

Stoneman's former teammates at Manor, Patrick Kujala and Ryan Cullen, are yet to announce their plans.
