Maldonado handed 10-place grid penalty for engine change

Pastor Maldonado has been handed a 10-place grid penalty after using his sixth engine of the season in first practice for the 2014 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

The Venezuelan will therefore drop 10 places from wherever he qualifies on Saturday. Should he qualify too far down the order for the full 10-place penalty to be applied, it will be carried over to the following race in Russia
