IndyCar / V8 Supercars: Will Power races Cessna jet
2014 IndyCar champion Will Power, driving a V8 Supercar, beat a Cessna Mustang jet in a promotional runway blast at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on Sunday.
Over 27,000 Queenslanders attended the open day at the new airport which will begin operations later this year, and the highlight for many, despite the flypasts, displays and concerts, was the chance to watch local boy Power race an executive jet along the 1.78-mile runway. Despite its name, the airport is actually a two-hour drive from Brisbane, and its nearest town is Toowoomba, where Power was born.
Having come off second best in a morning run, the Team Penske driver nailed victory on his second attempt. See amateur footage below.
