Will Power to race a V8 Supercar against a Cessna jet aircraft

Verizon IndyCar Series champion Will Power is back in Australia this weekend to take up an unusual challenge: Power will climb aboard a V8 Supercar and race a Cessna Mustang Citation jet (LEFT) down the newly completed 1.78-mile runway at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport.

Toowoomba native Power is in Australia to celebrate the airport's community open day, which will include a variety of aerial demonstrations and static displays of aircraft.

"I've never raced a jet before, so it should be pretty exciting," said Australia's first IndyCar champion.

The duel will be run twice this Sunday at 11:45 a.m. local time and again at 2:15 p.m. Power will mingle with fans in attendance at the event between the "races".

The race is reminiscent of a similar challenge taken up by the late Gilles Villeneuve in an F1 turbo Ferrari against an F-104 Starfighter jet back in 1981:
