MotoGP: Di Meglio undergoes surgery

Mike di Meglio underwent successful surgery on Monday following the injury he suffered during Sunday's MotoGP race at Misano.

The Avintia Racing rider broke the fourth metacarpal bone of his left hand when he crashed on the opening lap of the San Marino Grand Prix. The Frenchman underwent surgery in Barcelona on Monday and will be discharged from hospital on Tuesday before he begins his rehabilitation.

MotoGP's next round takes place at Aragon on Sept. 28.
