Will Home Track Advantage Pay Off For Mosing At Austin?
Winning the pole and going on to win his first Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Daytona was a good indication that 2014 was going to be a breakout year for Jeff Mosing.
This weekend, Mosing holds a home track advantage, competing in his hometown of Austin, Texas, at the Circuit of The Americas, and he’s looking to continue the momentum that has been building since Daytona.Mosing is in the thick of the battle for Street Tuner (ST) team honors, with the No. 56 Murillo Racing/Mosing Motorcars Porsche Cayman unofficially trailing the No. 42 Team Sahlen’s Porsche Cayman by a single point, 260-259, with two races remaining. He’s also second in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA, winning both races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in addition to a pair of runner-up finishes at Road America and a second at Watkins Glen.Mosing and co-driver Eric Foss are coming off their second ST triumph of the season at Virginia International Raceway – in only their second race in the Cayman after opening the year in a BMW 328i.They also finished second at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and third at both Sebring and Indianapolis. While Foss is second behind Wayne Nonnamaker in the driver championship, Mosing is third due to missing Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca due to suffering back spasms on the eve of the event. At Circuit of The Americas, Mosing finished 12th in last year’s Continental Tire Challenge race, but followed it up by scoring his only GRAND-AM Rolex Series victory, winning the GX class in a BGB Porsche Cayman co-driven by Jim Norman and Spencer Pumpelly.Mosing will hold an open house on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT to celebrate the races at Circuit of The Americas. Mosing Motorcars is located at 2420 W. Braker Lane on the north side of Austin.
