Andersson joins World Rallycross field for Germany
Two-time Junior World Rally champion PG Andersson will make his World Rallycross debut at round nine of the championship in Germany next week.
The former factory Suzuki WRC driver will compete in the event for Hedstroms Motorsport, who will be fielding a second Skoda Fabia Supercar alongside Euro Rallycross driver Peter Hedstrom.
"I've seen how popular rallycross has become and I would love to compete properly next year," said Andersson, who retired in the RallyX Scandinavian finale in Solvalla last week. We had a few problems [at Solvalla] but it seems that everything is sorted now.
"Before Germany, Peter and I will have another short test and I hope to get a good feel for the car then. I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the Supercar at my first World RX event."
The 34-year-old is no stranger to rallycross, having raced a Skoda Fabia I for the Hedstroms team at Holjes in 2012, where he was denied a podium finish by a puncture. Earlier this season, he acted as development driver for the VW Marklund Motorsport squad and raced a VW Polo RX at the opening round of the Swedish championship in Kuntstorp, finishing sixth.
Andersson's entry for the German round of World RX makes him the 100th driver to race a Supercar in the series this season.
