Kirchhofer gets Motopark Euro F3 run
Top German Formula 3 team Motopark Academy looks set to reunite with GP3 racer Marvin Kirchhofer for its return to European F3 next month.
Motopark has been forced to cancel plans to contest the penultimate F3 European Championship round at Imola, but will be present for the following weekend's Hockenheim finale with two Dallara-Volkswagens.
The Imola round is preceded by a two-day test, and Motopark boss Timo Rumpfkeil explained that, with suppliers running late, the decision had been made to focus on Hockenheim instead.
Kirchhofer won the 2012 ADAC Formel Masters and 2013 German Formula 3 titles with Motopark, before moving to GP3 this year with ART Grand Prix.
"The plan is to run Marvin," said Rumpfkeil. "He's quite a logical choice for us. But the second driver is not decided yet."
Motopark is also believed to have one entry for the Macau Grand Prix. Rumpfkeil said that the team hopes to take Markus Pommer, Motopark's runaway German F3 Cup points leader.
The Oschersleben-based team last competed at the top level of F3 in 2011, when it ran a three-car team in the Euro Series.
