GP2: Palmer disqualified from qualifying

GP2 points leader Jolyon Palmer has been sent to the back of the grid for Saturday's feature race after failing to provide enough fuel after qualifying at Monza on Friday.

The DAMS driver had originally qualified in fourth position, but that has been nullified due to there being less than one liter of fuel available at the end of the session for sampling, thus breaching GP2's technical regulations. Palmer will now start on the back row alongside series returnee Sergio Campana.

"Very disappointed to be starting last tomorrow after a technicality post qualifying," the Briton posted on Twitter. "More motivated than ever. Head down, move on."

Elsewhere, Johnny Cecotto was deemed to have impeded Palmer at Parabolica during qualifying. The Trident driver has been demoted three places and will start from 23rd.
