Asian Le Mans: Eurasia ORECA takes pole for Fuji 3 Hours
Richard Bradley from Eurasia Motorsport put in a spectacular lap to steal pole position with the #27 LM P2 ORECA-Nissan for the 3 Hours of Fuji, round 2 of the Asian Le Mans Series. Bradley's lap 1:34.495 bested the OAK Racing Morgan-Judd of Ho-Pin Tung by just 0.01 seconds.
Due to an engine failure Craft-Bamboo Racing was unable to take part in yesterday’s Free Practice sessions. However their #77 Ligier JS 53 Evo was up to speed for qualifying in the CN category. Craft's lead driver Mathias Beche clocked a fastest lap time of 1:40.124. Team Avelon Formula's #21 WOLF GB08 took second place in the CN class with a quickest lap time of 1:43.440 by Denis Lian.
The GT teams turned it up during qualifying with Takeshi Tsuchiya from Team AAI #90 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 recording a 1:40.026 to take pole. Only 0.786 seconds behind the #90 was Team AAI's #91 BMW Z4 driven by Tatsuya Tanugawa, which clocked a 1:40.812, ahead of Team AAI's third GT entry #92 Nissan GTR (1:40.872).
Two new entries from the Emperor Racing team competed in GT-AM category with the #11 Lamborghini Gallardo qualifying on pole position. Max Wiser, who has Asian LMS experience from last season recorded a fastest lap time of 1:42.026. The #82 Gallardo was only 0.285 seconds behind #11, with Hironori Takeuchi.
With the competition getting closer throughout the weekend all teams will now be making their final preparations in order to produce their best performance of the week in tomorrow’s race. Everyone now eagerly awaits Round 2 of the 2014 Asian Le Mans Series to get underway.
