3 Hours of Fuji – Free Practice Sessions 1 & 2

The Asian Le Mans Series teams hreld their first practice sessions Friday for this weekend's 3 Hours of Fuji. Teams navigated their way around the 4.563 km circuit, and all drivers benefited from the valuable track time ahead of Sunday's race.

In Free Practice 1, OAK Racing followeed up its 3 Hours of Inje with a very strong start at 3 Hours of Fuji finishing top of LM P2 with a fastest lap-time of 1:37.796 by Ho-Pin Tung in the team's #1 Morgan-Judd. The newly joined Team Avelon Formula were the top CN team in their #21 Wolf GB08 drove by Denis Lian with a fastest lap time of 1:43.553 and top speed of 158.632 km/h. Team AAI have 3 cars racing at Fuji, and it was their #90 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 with the fastest lap time of 1:41.684 and top speed of 161.584 km/h set by Takamitsu Matsui that led the way in the GT class.

Free Practice 2 saw Ho-Pin Tung again clock the fastest time at 1:36.520. Craft-Bamboo Racing missed the session with an engine problem which let Team Avelon once again take the top spot in CN category and record the fastest lap time of 1:50.562. Team AAI #90 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 led the GT Category with the fastest lap time of 1:40.512 set by Takeshi Tsuchiya.

Qualifying will be at 10:00 Saturday.
