Liddell, Valiante Lead Pre-Qualifying Practice
Robin Liddell and Michael Valiante led their respective classes in Friday’s second Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice session.
Liddell, a three-time Grand Sport (GS) winner this season with Andrew Davis in the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R, was fastest with a lap of 1:59.742.
Second in both of Friday’s practice sessions was Trent Hindman, the GS points leader, l with a lap of 1:59.777 in the No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 co-driven by John Edwards.
Andrew Aquilante was third with a lap of 1:59.787 in the No. 32 Phoenix American Ford Mustang Boss 302R.
Street Tuner (ST) was led by Michael Valiante, with a lap of 2:06.639 in the No. 93 HART Honda Civic Si.
Second, with a lap of 2:06.657, was Remo Ruscitti in the No. 04 Autometrics Motorsports Porsche Cayman, which brought out the red flag with a crash in the morning session.
“It looked a lot worse than the actual damage,” said co-driver Adam Isman of the incident involving the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park winning car. “The wheel speed sensor failed, and Remo lost his ABS at the wrong moment.”
Eric Foss, current runner-up in the ST championship hunt, was third with a lap of 2:06.903 in the No. 56 Murillo Racing/Mosing Motorcars Porsche Cayman co-driven by Jeff Mosing.
The 15-minute ST qualifying will begin at 4:40 p.m. ET, followed by GS qualifying at 5:10 p.m.
