MotoGP: Camier keeps Aspar ride for Silverstone

Leon Camier will stay on with Aspar Honda for his home MotoGP round at Silverstone after Nicky Hayden delayed his return.

British rider Camier has been standing in for 2006 world champion Hayden while the American recovers from surgery on a long-running wrist injury, and has contested the past two MotoGP races at Indianapolis and Brno.

Hayden had been expected to return for the British Grand Prix at the end of August. But while an Aspar statement underlined that his recovery remained "on schedule," the team said Hayden was keen "not to rush his return and take any risks." Camier will therefore race on for at least one more round.

"It is great news and a dream come true for me to ride in my home grand prix with such a great team," he said. "I know the circuit well and I really like it so hopefully we can take another big step forward there."

The former British Superbike champion outqualified teammate Hiroshi Aoyama on his MotoGP debut in America and then scored his first point in the Czech Republic last weekend.
