GB Autosport Carrying Positive Momentum to Brickyard Grand Prix

Arriving with the momentum of the team’s best result to date with the run to fourth just two weeks ago at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, GB Autosport is excited to make its Indianapolis Motor Speedway debut on the road course for the Brickyard Grand Prix on Friday.

The team will feature an updated driver line up for the Friday afternoon sprint, as Round 7 of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will see Damien Faulkner joined by Matt Bell in the No. 81 Tully’s Porsche 911 GT America.

Bell is stepping in for Ben Barker, who had a previous commitment to race in Porsche SuperCup this weekend at the Hungaroring (a race that GB Autosport pilot Damien Faulker won in 2008) as part of the Formula 1 event in Budapest.

Bell, who gained Porsche GT America experience with an outing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca earlier this year, also has experience on the Indianapolis circuit, having led over 30 laps at the track in his three previous starts at the Speedway.

“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to drive with GB Autosport,” said Bell, who will also race in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race on Friday. “The team has a lot of very experienced people and continues to get stronger every race and I’m happy to get to be a part the program. It’s always a great feeling to be racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so I am really looking forward to getting to race the Tully’s Porsche 911 with Damien (Faulkner) this weekend.”

The Tully’s Coffee-sponsored team scored a result representative of their hard work in the last round of competition at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Although it was their first outing around the high-speed 2.459-mile circuit, Faulkner and co-driver Ben Barker showed their talent behind the wheel as they combined with an excellent effort from the entire crew to drive a flawless race.

In addition to the positive momentum from their previous finish, GB Autosport also arrives at the famous Brickyard with a healthy portion of familiarity and data thanks to a test session on the road course there earlier this season. The test outing provided Faulkner the opportunity to get acquainted with the 14-turn road course, on which all four TUDOR classes will join together again for the 2.75-hour race.

“The whole team is really looking forward to Indianapolis,” said Team Manager, Cole Scrogham. “Our finish at CTMP really did feel like a win to all of us and we are ready to just keep building on that result. We have to keep reminding ourselves that we are still a really young team, but we are well on our way now. We gathered some really good data from our test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last month and Damien (Faulkner) was already pretty quick around the track, so we are feeling confident and ready to get at it again.”

As a part of the annual Kroger Super Weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, GB Autosport will remain busy during the condensed two-day race event. Prior to qualifying, which will be streamed LIVE on IMSA.com starting at 4:00 PM ET on Thursday July 24th, the team will participate in two practice sessions.

For the race, the green flag will fly at 5:45 PM ET with live coverage starting at 5:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1.

MRN Radio will also carry live coverage of the race at
