Continental Tire Challenge Turns First Laps At Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Subtitle:Lawson Aschenbach Leads Opening Practice In Camaro Z/28.R

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge turned its first laps since 2008 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Thursday afternoon.

Lawson Aschenbach drove the No. 01 CKS Autosport Camaro Z/28.R to the fastest time in the day’s lone practice session, lapping the 2.459-mile road course in one minute, 27.446 seconds late in the 45-minute session. The Grand Sport (GS) class points-leading No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 was second, with John Edwards driving to a lap of 1:27.729, while Matt Bell drove the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro Z/28.R to third at 1:28.064.In Street Tuner (ST), Remo Ruscitti recorded the fastest lap in the final minute of the session in the No. 04 Autometrics Motorsports Porsche Cayman at 1:32.790. That lap knocked Wayne Nonnamaker off the top of the charts. Nonnamaker’s lap of 1:32.813 in the No. 42 Team Sahlen Porsche Cayman was still good enough for second, just ahead of Terry Borcheller in the No. 23 Burton Racing BMW 128i, 1:32.896.The Continental Tire Challenge returns to the track for a morning practice session Friday at 8 a.m. ET.
