Dumas leads qualifiers for 92nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Le Mans star Romain Dumas leads a field of 67 qualifiers for today's 92nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This year the all-important running order to the summit of the 14,110ft mountain was set strictly according to qualifying times, regardless of class, and Dumas' time of 3:37.525 in his Norma M20 RD Unlimited led the way, although interestingly the next Unlimited class entry was only sixth, some 26 seconds slower.
The next fastest on times were two Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution IIIs in the Electric Modified class, 11sec down on Dumas. Pikes Peak veterans "Monster" Tajima and Paul Dallenbach will be next up, the former in his E-Runner Pikes Peak Special, while Dallenbach leads the Open Wheel class.
