Pirelli World Challenge and Trans Am in Action at Road America

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 19, 2014) – Two SCCA Pro Racing-sanctioned series, the Pirelli World Challenge and Trans Am, will be in action this weekend at the scenic and historic Road America.

The Pirelli World Challenge is scheduled to have a full complement of action as all six classes will be competing in the Cadillac Grand Prix at Road America. This will be a doubleheader weekend for all racers involved. The competition heats up on June 20, as the Touring Car, Touring Car A and Touring Car B-Spec classes hit the track for qualifying at 8:00 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., GT, GT-A and GTS will roll off for their qualifying session.

Racing action for the Pirelli World Challenge kicks off with Round Seven for the TC, TCA and TCB classes starting at 10:25 a.m. on May 20, with Round Seven of the GT, GT-A and GTS slated for a 3:15 p.m. start, later in the day. Round Eight for the touring classes will wrap up the day’s Pirelli World Challenge action, set to begin at 5:30 p.m. On May 21, Round Eight of the GT, GT-A and GTS championships will begin at 9:10 a.m.

In addition, the Trans Am series will be running a single-race weekend at the four-mile circuit. Qualifying for the four championship classes will begin at 4:30 p.m., on June 20. The session will be split into two 20-minute blocks, with the Trans Am class going out first followed by the TA2, TA3AM and TA3INT classes.

The Trans Am VP Small Engine Fuels 100 Miles of Madness will be the curtain-closing event for the weekend. The series is schedule to take the green flag at 5:15 p.m. for their 25-lap race.
