GT: Extra Spa races for Audi LMP1 duo

Two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winners Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer will race in the French GT championship at Spa ahead of their assault on the Belgian circuit's 24-hour enduro.

The factory Audi drivers will each race a WRT Audi R8 LMS ultra in the French GT event on June 21-22. Lotterer will share with Belgian Enzo Ide, a regular with WRT in the Blancpain Sprint Series, and Treluyer with WRT co-owner Yves Weerts.

WRT team boss Vincent Vosse, who has brought Audi LMP1 teammates Lotterer, Treluyer and Marcel Fassler together for an attack on the Blancpain Endurance Championship centrepiece on July 26-27, said: "The field for the 24 Hours is so competitive that there is no way guys doing one race a year can just jump in and be as quick as drivers who are driving an R8 every other weekend.

"We want to give Andre and Ben as much time as possible in the car at Spa so they have the best chance, which is why they will also be doing the Spa test day with us on July 2."

Fassler will not be racing in the French round at Spa because he has much more experience of the R8 GT3 car.

WRT is running a total of four Audis in the Spa 24 Hours.
