Indy Lights: Razia resists Harvey for Race 2 win

Luiz Razia survived race-long pressure from Jack Harvey to take his first Indy Lights win in the second part of this weekend's double-header on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

The Brazilian started from pole and led the entire race, but his Schmidt teammate Harvey never let him out of his sights. The pair were rarely separated by more than a couple of tenths.

"I pressured him for the whole race," said Harvey. "He made a couple of mistakes but I could never quite get past him. I'm a bit disappointed about that but he drove a great race and has been good all weekend."

Razia admitted that he had been forced to dig deep to keep the Brit behind him.

"It was one of the toughest races of my whole life," he said. "I'm so proud and so happy. Jack really put the pressure on. He had the better car, but I was able to use my experience to keep him behind me.

"This was one of the special days that I'll remember my whole life, and it did not come easy."

Alex Baron completed the podium after surviving a sustained attack from Friday's winner Matthew Brabham.

The latter had been forced to work his way back through the field following an incident early on, and after reeling Baron in for several laps he attempted a pass around the outside of Turn 1 with three laps to run. But the Andretti driver was not able to make the move stick, and by he time he had gathered himself up again Baron had opened just enough of a gap to secure third.

It was another difficult afternoon for the points leaders, with both Gabby Chaves and Zach Veach forced into recovery mode after losing ground in the early laps. Their comeback culminated in a battle for fifth that ended with contact and both cars bouncing across the grass. However, other mishaps among the backmarkers had stretched the rear of field out so much that they were able to rejoin sixth and seventh, respectively.
