MotoGP: Crutchlow injuries limited to finger

Cal Crutchlow has been diagnosed with a dislocated little finger following his Austin MotoGP crash, and is expected to be fit for the next round in Argentina in a fortnight.

The Ducati rider crashed heavily on lap 12 of the Grand Prix of The Americas on Sunday and had to be taken away from the trackside on a stretcher.

There were initially fears of a serious hand injury due to the level of swelling, but medical checks confirmed that Crutchlow had escaped with a dislocated little finger and bruising to his right hand. He will visit a specialist in San Diego on Monday to further assess his condition.

"I remember hitting a bump on the track that upset the bike," said Crutchlow. "It was a fast corner and seemed like it was just going to be a normal crash, but I got caught up with the bike and it ended up high-siding me.

"I really hit my hand so hard that I dislocated the finger and the swelling of the hand was so bad that I couldn't see the problem."

Crutchlow was running last at the time of the crash after having to pit for a new rear tire due to a severe vibration. His teammate Andrea Dovizioso finished third and gave Ducati its first podium since September 2012.
