Formula E calls off Rio round
Rio de Janeiro has been removed from the inaugural calendar of the new Formula E series.
The Brazilian capital was scheduled to host the third round of the season in November but was omitted from a recent revision of the 2014/15 calendar that was presented by the FIA at the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Morocco.
An unidentified replacement city venue has been penciled in for February next year, taking the place of the Los Angeles round, which now become an April event instead.
It has also been confirmed that the electric-based championship will adopt the regular FIA points scoring system. The top 10 drivers of each race will score using the 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 method that was first introduced to Formula 1 in 2010.
