WEC: Strakka Dome to hit track this week

The new Strakka Dome LMP2 World Endurance Championship contender will make its delayed testing debut later this week.

The British team, which has joined forces with Japanese constructor Dome to build and race the S103 coupe, will run the Nissan-engined coupe for three days at Paul Ricard at a test booked by Toyota, which is undertaking its latest endurance simulation.

Strakka also intends to attempt an endurance run through the night over the course of the test, which starts on Wednesday.

The new test date follows Strakka's late withdrawal from the official two-day World Endurance Championship test or Prologue at Ricard late last month with undisclosed teething problems. It made the decision after what it said was a successful initial shakedown at the Turweston aerodrome near its Silverstone workshop head of the Prologue.

Team owner Nick Leventis, who will share the car in the WEC with Strakka regulars Danny Watts and Jonny Kane, said: "After missing the Prologue, everybody has been pushing to ensure we get some track mileage ahead of the first round [at Silverstone on April 20].

"We are playing catch-up, but with three days testing, coupled with the engineering expertise we have in the team this year, we expect to make good progress."
