Le Mans: Gommendy gets TDS ELMS drive

Former Champ Car racer Tristan Gommendy will drive for the TDS Racing squad in this year's European Le Mans Series.

The Frenchman, who last year returned to sports cars with the Signatech Alpine squad at the Le Mans 24 Hours, will share the TDS team's new Morgan-Nissan LMP2 with Pierre Thiriet and Ludovic Badey in the five ELMS rounds and, presuming the team gains an entry, at Le Mans.

"This year I was looking for a full program and my first idea was TDS Racing because it among the very best prototype teams of the moment," said Gommendy, who has previously raced at Le Mans on four occasions. "I wanted a team that allows me to fight at front."

TDS announced last week that it was switching from the ORECA chassis with which it won the ELMS title in 2012 and finished runner-up last year to a Morgan built by OAK Racing's sister company Onroak Automotive.
