Le Mans: Rebellion Racing retains Nick Heidfeld and Mathias Beche

Rebellion Racing will retain Nick Heidfeld and Mathias Beche for the 2014 World Endurance Championship.

Former grand prix driver Heidfeld will have his first full season with the Swiss squad, having previously completed only a partial program in the WEC and the American Le Mans Series. It will be his third year at Rebellion, which will race an all-new LMP1 developed by ORECA during the 2014 season.

"It is great to continue with Rebellion in 2014 after we enjoyed two successful seasons together," said Heidfeld, who took seven LMP1 privateer victories in the 2013 WEC.

"I look forward to my first full season in the FIA World Endurance Championship. It will be a true challenge for everyone involved with the all-new Rebellion R-One cars, new regulations and new competitors."

Beche stays on at the team for a second successive year, the Swiss-French driver having taken four wins for the team in 2013.

"It is very positive for the team that Nick and Mathias remain in our driver line-up again this year," said team boss Bart Hayden. "Stability in the key drivers is a priority for us. There was a deep desire from the team and the drivers to continue, it is a logical decision to extend our relationship for the season to come."

Rebellion announced last year that Nicolas Prost would be retained for the 2014 season.

The team, which will field two cars in the WEC, is yet to announce its three remaining drivers.
