Argentina gets '14 MotoGP green light

MotoGP's return to Argentina has been given an official green light after the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit passed final homologation checks.

The event was originally scheduled for 2013, before being postponed due to political tensions amid efforts to nationalise the Argentinean arm of the Honda MotoGP team's title sponsor Repsol.

Several MotoGP teams still took part in a private test at Rio Hondo last July (pictured) as part of a promotional tour in Argentina.

This year's grand prix is scheduled for April 27 as the third round of the 2014 calendar. It marks the series' return to Argentina for the first time since the 500cc world championship raced at the Buenos Aires track in 1998-'99.
