The Chrysler Group’s SRT (Street and Racing Technology) brand has announced it will produce an exclusive, limited-run Anodized Carbon Special Edition package for the SRT Viper GTS model. Part of the special edition package is the new metallic matte exterior color that is being used for the first time by the Chrysler Group to add to the exclusivity of the SRT Viper.
“We’ve been waiting for the right time to use this striking new exterior color at the Chrysler Group and as the flagship for the SRT brand, the Viper is the perfect vehicle to showcase this combination of finishes and details to create such a unique look,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group, LLC. “The Viper’s unique, handbuilt and hand-painted process allow us to create these ultra-exclusive special series builds. At SRT, the art of the American exotic supercar is every bit as important as its performance, and this car is for the enthusiasts who feel that way too.”
The new metallic matte exterior body color provides even greater accentuation to the vehicle’s form. The metallic finish adds depth while the dark matte color amplifies the Viper’s sinister quality.
Unique exterior accents in the Anodized Carbon Special Edition package include: Black Vapor Chrome five-spoke “Rattler” wheels, Gloss Black GTS badge, Satin Black exhaust bezel, Anodized Carbon fuel filler door, orange brake calipers, carbon fiber brake ducts and rear applique.
Luxurious interior accents include Alcantara wrapped headliner, door bolsters and knee blockers; orange accent stitching on the Nappa leather wrapped door trim, center console and instrument panel and on the Nappa leather and Alcantara seats. Orange accents are also added to the door panel and instrument panel. Carbon fiber accents are added throughout the center stack, door panels and steering wheel, and an exclusive carbon GTS badge adorns the dashboard.
A limited production run of 50 Viper GTS models with the Anodized Carbon Special Edition Package begins in Jan. 2014 at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit.
Fans vote for “Competition Blue”
Fans have voted and Chrysler Group’s SRT brand has announced that Competition Blue wins as the designation for the new exterior color on the 2014 SRT Viper. Patryk Skarzynski from Chicago submitted Competition Blue in the “SRT Viper Color Contest.” More than 11,000 names for the new blue exterior paint color were submitted and Skarzynski was the first to submit Competition Blue as an entry in the contest.
In addition to having his name become part of Viper history, Skarzynski has won a trip to the 2014 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona at Daytona International Speedway to experience the race with the SRT Viper design team.
“This contest demonstrates just how strong and vocal the SRT and Viper community is; to receive more than 11,000 entries was rewarding. This contest was created for our brand loyalists to make them a part of SRT history,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC. “We’re looking forward to seeing Competition Blue drape the skin of the 2014 SRT Viper.”
The “SRT Viper Color Contest” launched in October, giving SRT enthusiasts the chance to put a name on the new blue exterior color for the 2014 SRT Viper. The top three finalists were chosen by the SRT team. The public then voted for their favorite name among those top three finalists via http://www.driveSRT.com/colorcontest.
The new blue exterior paint color, now named Competition Blue, was featured on a SRT Viper GTS in the Mopar display area of the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show that recently took place in Las Vegas.
Among the accessories on the SRT Viper GTS at SEMA was a Mopar carbon fiber X-brace in the engine compartment that adds strength and structural stiffness, and delivers a 50-percent weight savings over the stock X-brace. A silver Stryker logo on the X-brace harmonizes the X-brace and the valve covers, which have exposed carbon fiber and a brushed-aluminum finish with an SRT decal.
Inside, a Mopar stainless-steel pedal kit with rubber grip inserts provides ample grip with added style. A Mopar carbon fiber satchel sits between the driver and passenger seat to provide extra storage. Aluminum doorsill scuff plates from Mopar complete the additional interior equipment.
