"Rush" rolls on at the global box office

Two months after its release, Ron Howard's '70s Formula 1 epic "Rush" has taken in more than $90 million at the box office worldwide, according to figures provided by . As might be expected, a good portion of that has come from outside the U.S., where F1 ranks higher in popular culture than it does Stateside, but the domestic take alone of $27m from its first nine weeks in theaters has paid down much of the movie's $38m budget.

It's all relative, of course " Chris Hemsworth, who plays James Hunt in the film, will surely make a good deal more from his latest flick, "Thor 2: The Dark World," which grossed $145 million in its first in theaters. Still, the first modern test case for Formula 1 as a mainstream movie subject can justifiably be rated as a commercial as well as a critical success.
