Reigning European Le Mans Series GTE champions Johnny Mowlem and Matt Griffin will remain with the British Ram Racing team in 2014.
Mowlem and Griffin, who won their class in three of the five ELMS races aboard the lead Ram Ferrari 458 Italia in 2013, have re-signed for the Silverstone-based team, which has declared its intention to move up to the World Endurance Championship next season.
“It didn’t make any sense at all to not re-sign Johnny and Matt,” Team boss Dan Shufflebottom said. “They’ve both done a fantastic job for Ram Racing this year and we know that stability in as many areas as possible is a big factor for continued success.
“There’s no guarantee that Johnny and Matt will be teamed in the same car in 2014, but we’ll be happy to know they’ll be with us.”
Shufflebottom has stated that Ram intends to run one car in GTE Pro and one in GTE Am in next year’s WEC. It appears likely that Griffin, who has been reclassified as a gold-rated driver for 2014, will drive the Pro car, while Mowlem will race the Am entry.
Full details of Ram’s plans, which will likely include confirmation that it will again run Ferraris, will be announced at a later date.
