GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing press announcement at Daytona.
The GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing team will return to race at January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona event with Memo Gidley and Darren Law partnering with regular drivers Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney in the No. 99 Corvette DP.
?We are very excited about entering our 10th year of professional sports car racing, and we are especially happy to have continuity in our race team and the driver lineup for the Rolex 24,? said Stallings. ?Alex, Jon, Memo and Darren will be back in the 99 ?Red Dragon’ Corvette Daytona Prototype for this grueling 24 hour race, and we are ever optimistic that this year could be the one.?
The two-time Grand-Am Rolex DP championship-winning team will contest a limited portion of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship calendar next year, committing to the four North American Endurance Championship rounds, starting with Daytona. Having Gidley and Law back for the 24-hour race will only add to the team’s chances of winning, according to Gurney.
?I am very happy to know that Darren and Memo will be back again with us for another adventure at the Rolex,? he said. ?They were both quick and extremely professional in their approach last year, neither put a wheel wrong, and if we can do the same again this year, with a little luck, we should be in the hunt for a win on Sunday afternoon.?
Fogarty echoed Gurney’s sentiments.
?It is great to be back with guys to start this new era,? he said. ?All smart veterans, which is what is important in any endurance race. This year it will be even more important with all the classes of varying speeds, it’s going to be busy, very busy. A strong result will be crucial in the NAEC battle and I feel like we have the team to do it.?
