Hexis signs Estre for FIA GT Baku
Porsche Carrera Cup Germany champion and Supercup front-runner Kevin Estre will join the Hexis Racing McLaren team for the FIA GT Series finale in Baku next month.
The Frenchman, who claimed the German Porsche title with Attempto Racing at the Hockenheim earlier this month, will share the solo Hexis McLaren MP4-12C with factory-contracted driver Rob Bell at the street event in the Azerbaijan capital on Nov. 24.
Estre landed the drive after a successful try-out with the Hexis squad at Paul Ricard this week, straight after winning both races at the French GT Championship finale on a guest appearance with the TDS Racing BMW squad.
Hexis boss Philippe Dumas said: "Testing confirmed that he's as good as I thought he was. I'm firing a warning shot across the bows of our rivals in the Baku World Challenge " with such a talent combined with that of Rob, they'll have us to reckon with!"
Hexis, which won the teams' title in the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship, is making a guest appearance at Baku for what looks likely to be its last race before the squad closes its doors.
