Cregan to make Abu Dhabi GP3 return

Robert Cregan will return to GP3 action for the season finale in Abu Dhabi after securing a drive with Trident.

The 24-year-old Irishman will replace Italian David Fumanelli at the team, racing alongside Giovanni Venturini and Emanuele Zonzini. Cregan had last raced in GP3 in last year's event at Monza.

"I am very excited to be racing with Trident this weekend, it all came together quite late but I think it is possible to get a good result," said Cregan. "I have not raced since the last race in Monza in 2012 so I cannot wait to jump in the car. I have been following the series this year and with the new car and a very competitive field it will be a big challenge but one I am really looking forward to."

Fumanelli confirmed he will miss the round due to budget issues, tweeting: "It's official now I'll not race in Abu Dhabi this weekend due to budget issues.

"It's really tough to accept, but that's life. I'll keep working hard to find solutions for my future! Good luck to all the boys out there!"
