Whincup to return to RoC in 2013

V8 Supercars championship leader Jamie Whincup will return to the Race of Champions for the 2013 event.

Whincup, a four-time V8 champion, made his RoC debut in Bangkok last year. Paired with motorcycle racing legend Mick Doohan in Team Australia, the duo reached the semi-finals of the Nations' Cup element.

"I really enjoyed my time in Bangkok last year and will use the experience I learnt in my rookie year to be more competitive this year," said Whincup.

"My biggest weakness last year was getting my head around a left-hand-drive car so I am already on the lookout for a car here in Australia to gain some extra practice."

The 2013 RoC takes place in Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium on Dec. 14-15. Other drivers confirmed for the event include Michael Schumacher, Tom Kristensen and Sebastien Ogier.
