Derani weighs up Indy Lights

Formula 3 European Championship podium finisher Pipo Derani is weighing up a future in the U.S. after his test in an Indy Lights car.

The Brazilian tested with top team Schmidt Peterson Motorsports at the Putnam Park road course in Indianapolis, and set the fastest time ever recorded by one of the squad's cars.

"I was invited to test and it goes without saying that I loved accepting the invitation," said Derani, who is ninth in the European F3 standings.

"Indy Lights definitely represents an option as a next step after F3, but at this point nothing is fixed. We have to wait and see if I find the sponsors I need."

Derani, who is 20 next week, has also been linked with the nascent

of Fortec Motorsport, the team with which he has raced in British F3 in 2012 and European F3 this season.

Fortec boss Richard Dutton said that Auto GP is still a possibility for his squad, as long as the team can attract strong drivers.
