Sergio Campana will make his GP2 debut with Trident in his home event at Monza this weekend. The 2011 Italian Formula 3 champion is currently challenging for the Auto GP title.

“To be at Monza during the Italian GP weekend has been one of my long-time goals,” said 27-year-old Campana. “This season, the dream finally came true and as soon as this chance with Trident Racing emerged, I seized it in a few days.

“Everything will be new to me because I only turned some laps in an old GP2 car without the Pirelli tires. I know that it will be hard to familiarise with this new world in just a weekend. I know the track very well and that will definitely be an advantage.”

Campana joins Nathanael Berthon in the Trident lineup. Kevin Ceccon started the season in the team’s second car, before being replaced by Ricardo Teixeira for the last two events.
