Starworks switches back to BMW power for Grand-Am

By

Beginning with the Brickyard Grand Prix this weekend, Starworks Motorsport will switch to BMW power in its two Daytona Prototype racing cars to increase the brace of BMW-powered Rileys in the Grand-Am Rolex Series to six.

Starworks Motorsport raced with BMW engines from 2008-2010. The No. 2 Starworks Riley is currently co-leading the Rolex Series team championship on 194 points and is fifth in the North American Endurance Championship (DP class).

We have always had a good relationship with BMW of North America. There is a dynamic change coming with the series integrating next year and we are looking for a partner and people we could work with long term,” said team owner Peter Baron. “It is midseason, but we felt that the time was right to add BMW power.”
