Designer Morris to leave Sauber

Sauber chief designer Matt Morris is to leave the Swiss Formula 1 team. Head of concept design Eric Gandelin will take over the role at the start of next month, although the timing of Morris's departure from the squad has yet to be finalized.

"As of July 1, Eric will take over as chief designer," a Sauber spokesperson said. "Matt will leave the company at a date which is still to be decided on."

Morris joined Sauber as head of mechanical design in April 2011 before being promoted to his current position. Previously, he worked for Williams from 2003-11, first as senior systems engineer and then as head of transmission design.
