James Courtney has extended his deal with top V8 Supercars squad Holden Racing Team for a further three years.
The 2010 series champion joined HRT from Dick Johnson Racing following his title-winning season, but has struggled for consistent front-running form in that time. His only HRT win so far came in his first event with the team in Abu Dhabi two years ago. But the 33-year-old has made good progress in recent months, becoming a regular podium finisher again.
Team managing director Steve Hallam said HRT had no hesitation at all in re-signing Courtney.
“James was our first choice, and we worked hard on a satisfactory arrangement for him to stay at HRT,” Hallam said. “James has been a contributor to our development program and we were very keen for him to continue. I’m sure we will achieve more success with him behind the wheel of an HRT Commodore.”
