IndyCar racer Ryan Briscoe will contest the three V8 Supercars endurance races with the Walkinshaw Racing team. Briscoe will partner veteran Russell Ingall in his Holden for Sandown, Bathurst and Surfers Paradise.
He had initially been expected to line up with Walkinshaw’s sister squad Holden Racing Team, but those enduro seats went to Nick Percat and Greg Murphy.
“I’m really excited to be coming home and driving with Walkinshaw Racing again, partnering a V8 icon in Russell Ingall,” Briscoe said. “I’ve been following the V8s all season and it’s great timing to be driving with Russell and the Supercheap Auto team; they had a great result in Townsville and are clearly coming strong before the enduros.”
Briscoe has been part of HRT’s squad for the Surfers Paradise international event for the past three years, and did Sandown and Bathurst with the team in 2006. He began this year racing for Level 5 in the American Le Mans Series, before adding a part-time IndyCar program with Panther Racing.
The 31-year-old Australian is currently recovering from a broken wrist sustained in the Toronto IndyCar round.
