Remembering Paul Reinhart, 1929-2022

The Corvette community and the vintage racing fraternity suffered a great loss on Friday October 14 with the passing of Paul Reinhart. Paul left us after a brief illness. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man. He will be missed for his generosity, sly wit, and fierce competitive persona on the track. Paul was predeceased by his late wife Wanda and long-time companion Bobbi Bruton. He is survived by his stepson Mark, and sister Rose. He was fortunate to have been cared for by Debbie Bruton, Bobbi's daughter.

Paul was blessed to have many dear friends in and outside the vintage racing community. Just days before his death he was able to spend time with his good friend and fellow Corvette great Joe Freitas. Joe reports that Paul still had that twinkle in his eyes when they reminisced about the old solid axle days. One of best of the privateers, Paul stayed fiercely loyal to the Chevy brand even after more than a few of his contemporaries "jumped ship" to the more competitive Shelby Cobras.

Vintage Motorsport's Jan/Feb 2009 issue featured an article about Paul written by his longtime friend Tom Madigan and can be read HERE. It gives an insight into Paul as a man, competitor, and friend. Paul will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate to know him. Godspeed Paul.

Thank you to Scott Dames for sending this heartfelt tribute.
