TV ratings: Daytona 500 final and more
The 2016 Daytona 500 earned a 6.6 final rating (up from its 6.1 overnight) and averaged 11.4 million viewers on FOX, down 14% in ratings and 15% in viewership from last year (7.7, 13.4m) and the second-lowest ever for NASCAR's biggest race since live, flag-to-flag coverage began in 1979, according to Sports Media Watch.
The Duels races on Thursday night were also down over last year. The 1.57 final rating and 2.5m average viewers on FOX Sports 1 were the lowest since the qualifying races moved to prime time three years ago, SMW reports.
The Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series races at Daytona were also down slightly from light year. Saturday afternoon's Xfinity Series race earned a 1.3 rating on FS1, compared to a 1.7 last year, while Friday night's Truck Series telecast scored a 0.9 and 1.3m average viewers, compared with a 1.0/1.6m in 2015.
