Eurasia to enter ELMS in 2015

The Chinese-based Eurasia team will enter the European Le Mans Series in LMP2 next season.

Eurasia Motorsport, which is run by expatriate Briton Mark Goddard, is expanding from its assault on the Asian Le Mans Series with an ORECA-Nissan 03 to take on the five-round ELMS and has ambitions to contest the Le Mans 24 Hours, most likely in 2016.

The team has yet to make a final decision on which car-engine combination, but is likely that it will opt for a second ORECA-Nissan to run alongside the existing car that is to remain in the Asian series.

The first confirmed drivers are mainland Chinese driver Pu Jun Jin, who races for Eurasia in the Formula Masters China open-wheel series and has contested one Asian LMS round in the ORECA this year, and ex-Formula BMW driver Nick de Bruijin from the Netherlands.

Eurasia, which also competes in the GT Asia series, has yet to confirm the third driver.

Goddard, who raced in British Formula 3 in the 1980s, said: "We are keen to demonstrate that motorsport in the region is at a level which allows us to compete with the best and running the car with our own Asian-based personnel is a crucial part of our program."

Eurasia, which is based at the Chinese Zhuhai circuit, was established in 2003 and ran the Craft Aston Martin squad that was a frontrunner in the GTC class in last year's Asian LMS.

Its best result with its ORECA in Asia so far this year was second place at Fuji in August with Richard Bradley, Jun Jin and John Hartshorne driving.
