Davison switches to Mercedes for '14
Will Davison will switch from Ford to Mercedes for the 2014 V8 Supercar season after signing a multi-year contract with the Erebus team.
Davison's move from factory-supported Ford Performance Racing had been rumored for several months before finally being confirmed, first by Erebus owner Betty Klimenko on Facebook yesterday, and again in a team statement today.
"It's a major coup for us," said Erebus Motorsport CEO Ryan Maddison. "Will is among the top three drivers in Australia, with a tremendous record of success over the past five seasons. We're delighted in the commitment he has shown to us for the future."
The 31-year-old, who paired up with Garth Tander to win at Bathurst in 2009 as a Holden Racing Team driver, finished third in last year's standings. At the end of last year, Maro Engel lost his drive with Erebus after the team announced it would cut back to two cars for this season.
