Aston Martin looking to North America for motorsport partner
In the wake of yesterday's announcement from Aston Martin that its new Vantage GT3 and GT4 race cars are set to debut next year, David King – president of Aston Martin Racing – explained to RACER that the British marque is now working to establish a partnership in North America for future factory and customer motorsport programs.
For this, King is already talking to multiple high-profile potential partners, with the aim for the organization both to field a full Pro GTLM effort and support customer operations in North America coast-to-coast.
“It has to be an organization with a well established infrastructure,” he said, “because there’s a clear need to give an equally good standard of customer service response to customers both on the East and West Coasts, and the distances involved make using a single center of operations rather more problematic.”
While there’s no confirmed timescale for the inception for such a partnership, a 2019 IMSA program is the target, as Aston Martin continues to promote its new product range worldwide.
